The Day Foxy Arrived

On Saturday morning before Thanksgiving in 1999, Dad saw a ball of fur run up a tree in our back yard. In fact, this fur ball put on a performance similar to a monkey swinging through the branches. Dad was quite taken with this fur ball's athletic ability and called Mom.

Sam explains Foxy's arrivalThey went to the lower level of the house to get a better look, and the fur ball was already at the door. She wore a collar but no identification.

Dad put signs up in our neighborhood to see if anyone would claim her. No one did. (Mom said he didn't WANT to find her owner since the signs didn't make sense!).

The humans had her checked out at the vet. She was treated for worms and who knows what else.

Foxy's first dayFoxy Recalls The First Day

I had a few rough days out in the woods trying to find my own food. I saw a house that seemed to need a sweet love like me. When I saw a human at the window, I knew I had to perform. It worked. It took about two minutes and I was in! The humans kept picking me up and petting me. Of course I purred and was so happy to eat the food and water they offered. I knew I finally found a home.

Sam Recalls the First Meeting

She knew I was here. That’s why she chose this house. I had been hoping for a companion and she must have known this.

Thank goodness my human Dad had the foresight to see her potential. I have to admit I didn’t see it at first. She was rough around the edges. So dirty and scraggly.
